  26. PART 1: FIRST TIME OS/2 (2.1/2.11/3) INSTALLATION FROM DOLPHIN 8000AT

  30.               DISK 1 = "Diskette 1" if OS/2 (2.1/2.11) package is used.
  31.                      = "Diskette for CD-ROM" if OS/2 3 WARP package is
  32.                        used.

  34.               DISK 2 = A brand new 3.5inch-1.44MB formatted diskette.

  37.         I. PROCEDURAL STEPS
  38.         -------------------
  39.            1. Duplicate "DISK 1" into a newly formatted diskette and label
  40.               it "DISK 2";
  41.  
  42.            2. Copy the Dolphin 8000AT CD-ROM driver file (DOLAT001.ADD)
  43.               into "DISK 2";
  44.  
  45.            3. Add the statement below into the CONFIG.SYS file in "DISK 2":
  46.  
  47.                 BASEDEV=DOLAT001.ADD /P:XXX
  48.  
  49.                 where,
  50.                        /P:XXX  =  XXX represents the CD-ROM drive
  51.                                   address port in three figures.
  52.                                   e.g. 320, 340 or 360 etc.
  53.  
  54.  
  55.            4. Switch off the PC power, connect up Dolphin 8000AT CD-ROM drive.
  56.               Make sure the hardware jumper setting for the port address is
  57.               correspond to the address port XXX in the statement mentioned
  58.               in 3.
  59.  
  60.            5. Boot up the PC up using the OS/2 (2.1/2.11/3) installation booting
  61.               diskette. When the installation program requests for "DISK 1",
  62.               insert "DISK 2" instead. Then put in the OS/2 Installation CD-ROM
  63.               into Dolphin CD-ROM drive and press ENTER to continue to proceed
  64.               with OS/2 installation following the standard installation
  65.               instructions.

  67.            6. After OS/2 (2.1/2.11) is fully installed, copy the DOLAT001.ADD
  68.               into C:\OS2 directory (assuming that C drive is OS/2 booting
  69.               drive). For OS/2 3 WARP, the correct directory should be
  70.               C:\OS2\BOOT.

  73.        II. FURTHER CHECKING
  74.        --------------------
  75.            Make sure:-
  76.  
  77.            1. The following files exist in the directory C:\OS2 for
  78.               OS/2 2.1/2.11 (assuming that C drive is OS/2 booting drive):
  79.  
  80.                                 CDFS.IFS
  81.                                 OS2CDROM.DMD
  82.                                 DOLAT001.ADD
  83.  
  84.               For OS/2 3 WARP, the correct directory should be C:\OS2\BOOT.
  85.  
  86.            2. The following statements exist in C:\ (assuming that C drive is
  87.               OS/2 booting drive):
  88.  
  89.                                 IFS=CDFS.IFS /Q
  90.                                 BASEDEV=OS2CDROM.DMD /Q
  91.                                 BASEDEV=DOLAT001.ADD /P:XXX
  92.  
  93.               For OS/2 3 WARP, the correct statements should be:
  94.  
  95.                                 IFS=C:\OS2\BOOT\CDFS.IFS /Q
  96.                                 DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\OS2CDROM.DMD /Q
  97.                                 BASEDEV=DOLAT001.ADD /P:XXX
  98.  
  99.                      XXX = refer to STEP 3. above for proper value of XXX.

  102.            3. The address XXX must be the same as the hardware port setting on
  103.               the interface card. Refer to hardware manual for more hardware
  104.               setting info.

  108. PART 2: INSTALLATION OF DOLPHIN 8000AT AFTER OS/2 (2.1/2.11/3) IS INSTALLED
  109. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  111.         I. PROCEDURAL STEPS
  112.         -------------------
  113.            1. Copy DOLAT001.ADD and DOLAT001.DDP into a blank diskette,
  114.               label the diskette "Dolphin 8000AT Install Disk" and insert into
  115.               floppy drive A or B;
  116.  
  117.            2. Within PM, invoke OS/2's SYSTEM folder, then SYSTEM SETUP folder,
  118.               followed by executing DEVICE DRIVER INSTALL program to run
  119.               driver installation;
  120.  
  121.            3. When the "OS/2 2.1 Device Driver Installation" dialog box pops up,
  122.               Select the correct Source directory, then click "Install..."
  123.               button;
  124.  
  125.            4. When the "Select Device Drivers" dialog box pops up, select the
  126.               driver appear in the field by single clicking "Dolphin 8000AT
  127.               Non-SCSI CDROM Device Driver" and then click "OK" to proceed.
